What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files saved by the browser to operate a session and remember choices. External services may use similar technologies such as local storage or measurement identifiers.
Essential cookies
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
nanostudent_session | Sign-in, CSRF protection, security, and in-session language. | Until browser close or session expiry |
ns_cookie_consent | Stores the essential-only or optional-services choice. | Up to 12 months |
ns_cookie_consent_version | Triggers renewed choice after a material policy version change. | Up to 12 months |
Optional services
Advertising or measurement may load only when configured by the administrator and the user allows optional services. Those providers may set cookies under their policies. Google sign-in is user-initiated and Google may use its own cookies on its pages, but sign-in does not automatically enable advertising.
Managing your choice
Use the “Privacy settings” button in the footer to change your choice. You can also clear site cookies in browser settings, but deleting the session cookie signs you out. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or secure form submission.
